Los Romeos - Mi Vida Rosa (Spain, 1990)

Los Romeos are a Spanish band formed in Castellan, Spain in 1988. They released three albums and a handful of 45s of which this is my absolute favorite.

A great tune backed by a solid major label production job. Think of them as a Spanish Primitives and you're not far off.

The Troggs - 'Coz We Were Dancing (Germany, 1980)

The Troggs were one of the few bands from the sixties that survived  that decade without venturing into prog or americana and made great records well into the 70s. Still the 1980 date on the label made me feel somewhat apprehensive.

No need to heave worried tho', 'cause this is a killer update on their original sound, same three chords, same poundin' Diddley-esque drums and a rhythm guitar that sounds like static!

A on/off for German Polydor is seems, and that's a shame. But maybe 1980 wasn't the right year for glammy updates of sixties hits.

The good news is that you can still get it cheap!

(re)turning 45s

So here I am (again) writing about music for no other reason than to share my enthusiasm for loud, stupid and just plain fun 45s.
